Me, sharing chart space with Donna Summer and Barbara Streisand?

Yes, you've "read right"! Who would've ever "thunk it"!! Me... sharing chart space with Donna Summer (Especially since our dear Ms Summer has gone on) and Barbara Striesand! .
Say what now!?! How awesome!
My good friend-turned-family, Joe Gauthreaux, penned a song called THE URGE IN ME, for which I recorded the vocals. I must say, it SLAYS! (If you don't have it, get it here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/urge-in-me-feat.-inaya-day/id1176400267See the music video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oM788oduQ5A

Now, Not only has BILLBOARD MAGAZINE named Me as one of the Greatest Of All Time Top Dance artists...not only does THE URGE IN ME make My 3rd top 5 Billboard Dance Chart single within a year's time, but we're at #3 on the Billboard dance / club chart and have moved up to #37 on Billboard's Hot Dance / Electronic songs chart with Ms Summer & Ms Streisand just two steps below! (sigh)
What a friggin' honor! Jeesh!
I've just come home from performing 2 concerts and 2 pop-ups on the ALLURE OF THE SEAS Royal Caribean Cruise Line for Atlantis Events with My friend and roadie, Asia!
Dj Mike Nelson assisted Me on the 1 & 2's!!! CLICK HERE to see it : https://www.facebook.com/alan.tibaldeo/videos/10210440541962208/?pnref=story

With the intention of bringing the attention back to the reason for Christmas, Inaya Day developed this project focused solely on the One whose birth is celebrated instead of just the holiday. Put it on repeat for the rest of your life! This project is timeless!

On stage with Robin S, Czion & Cory despite the threats at LA Pride Fest!

Sadness was felt. Concern was in the air. Determination and strong belief was evident in the massive audience and in our performances! We were all adamant about not letting hate and fear win!... and so, we attended, we sang, we danced, we praised, we remembered!
For our bethren lost in Orlando and for the failed attempt at our own event, (man caught with explosives and weapons in his car heading to LA Pride), One of the organizers, Jamie Awad, asked Robin S. and Me to "take them to church a capella".. and so we did!
SEE THE VIDEO HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXz1kAjRtSQ

What an awesome show and celebration of life, love, and freedom. Czion, Cory and I are also celebrating our 20 years in dance music together!... still makin' it pop! God is indeed great!

Friday night, I performed with My High School Gospel Chorus reUnion Choir. SO much fun to see and hear everyone again. As many of you know, I went to The Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School and Music & Art (The FAME school. The movie and tv show are about our school; started out in the old castle then we moved to Lincoln Center. Here are some pics and #Video for you to enjoy!

What a great weekend we had! Pics and Video inside!

.....So, I performed  for Albany Black & Latino Gay Pride festival AND after-party with My boys / dancers, Cory & Czion. I had My cousin (and Ny-O-Dae Music recording artist-My label), DeVonde, perform her song LIFE, as a surprise. The crowd loved it and sang along!

The boys and I even did a Celia Cruz song... YES... in spanish! Czion sang that with Me, as well as the reggaeton tune that I made with Mark Shine and Mike Cruz called, "Jump Up & Down".
It was so much fun!
Here we are doing the song in sound check.

The next day, Czion and I caught up with the amazing Crystal Waters back stage after her performace at Queens Pride. Needless to say, her show gave Life! Luv huh!

Just a couple of weeks ago, I was in My former place of residence, Dusseldorf Germany, singing with a live band.
Here I am singing Roberta Flack's, FEEL LIKE MAKIN LOVE, with Valerie Scott and Keith Elliott Munerlyn on background vocals.

Catching Up with Iggy Azalea & Rita Ora

For those of you who don't know who those people are, they are two pop artists who are dominating radio airways right now.
WITH THAT SAID; a song that I co wrote with Ashleigh K. and recorded with Lee Dagger of Bimbo Jones, is still just 2 notches below Iggy Azaela and Rita Ora on the Billboard club/dance chart at #15!!!
I'm catching up!
Let's get fingers, arms, legs, and eyes crossed for a Top 10!!!! :-D

Pick your favorite mix, (mine are the wawa mix, soneec mix, and funkymovers mix), and support the movement by downloading the songs via

Reminiscent of the Black Eyed Peas, Inaya Day, Robin Andre, and Tempamental take you around the world with this track. The original mix is an energetic, hands in the air movement that entices you to sing and dance along; melding hip-hop, house, and pop: while the Lucius Lowe and G Drive mixes take you through sub-genres of pure house.

If you feel it, come on by ICON tonight! We'll be performing this tune tonight at Midnight.

Dr. Maya Angelou and Me

I first met her in the early 90's, when Oprah Winfrey gave us, (the Wiz cast), a party. The first time that we conversed, (our 2nd meeting), and that I was in her presence for an extended time was at Valerie Simpson's & Nick Ashford 's house in CT. We sat around the table inside the house and listened to her speak about "what a friend is" just before she hosted the Moulin Rouge poolside show at their annual White Party.  She was dressed to the 9's... complete with wide-brimmed hat.
Many times after, I'd be called down to the Sugar Bar to sing because Dr Maya Angelou would be there and, (I was told), she loved to hear me sing. (gasp!!) :-o When I was in town, I'd more than gladly oblige. Once, after I sang Chain Of Fools, she grabbed my face and spoke a sort of impromptu poem about how I'd taken her to the stars and let her fall amongst the this and that with my singing.
I attended an event for Betty Shabazz, (Malcom X's wife), at Convent Ave Baptist Church at the request of Iyanla Vanzant. She asked me to sing STILL I RISE by Yolanda Adams just before Dr. Angelou was to speak! How awesome is THAT!?! I think God's tryna tell me something.  :-D
I was introduced to and constantly brought into the presence of this GREAT being, by other GREAT beings.
I will NEVER forget these things. I will NEVER forget her impact on our world. God, bless the soul and the works of Dr. Angelou and may both be multiplied. She is who I aspire to be. GREAT!
Humbly submitted,

The Future You

What if you could go into the future, say 5 years from now, and see yourself as a successful performer with an established career and fan base? How big would you like to be? What kind of shows would you be doing?
All successful artists, business people, athletes, and others, have in their minds a developed picture of who they want to be and what they want to accomplish.
There is much that has to be learned and integrated in your skill set for onstage performance success; that’s part of all true disciplines. But there’s another part of the equation that’s often overlooked in our pursuit of success. So I’ll ask the question of you: what does success onstage look like for you? Do you see yourself accomplishing that goal, as you work on your set; as you write out your new set list integrating moments, thinking of stories to tell, etc.?
I remember a quote from an album cover of a band that I really liked. It said, “Discipline is not an end in itself; only a means to an end.” (King Crimson-Discipline) Learning the things we teach and then practicing them until you don’t have to think about it, is the goal. But if you don’t see you doing it and all of the effort is merely “A+B=C” — then you won’t truly succeed. You have to get a “picture” in your mind and then passionately, with discipline, learn and integrate this stuff. But the cool part… when you do it that way, it’s fun! I love to rehearse. But more than that, I love to rehearse with a picture of me totally nailing the thing that I’m rehearsing!
Go after it — but do it expecting to succeed! New Year’s resolutions that fail are often a set of DVDs or books or lists that the well-intentioned bought to lose weight or fix this or develop that. Don’t waste your money if you don’t intend to succeed. 2014 is here…now go make it your year! -

I did it again, right on the beach this time (:-o

Yup, I shot a video on the beach on a cold day in autumn.
Only I would choose a rainy, overcast day with only moments of sun peeking through, to do a music video.... while walking shoe-less on the cold, wet, solid sand. Genius!
BUT, it came out pretty cool.
I shot it myself using my flip cam and a tri-pod.

Pay everyone but NOT the musician! Huh?

DIY artist Whitey lashes out at big media when asked to give away music for free – and he calls for a “public discussion”

Whitey won't give away music for freeIt’s compelling when an artist takes a concept and crystallizes it into words you wish you had come up with. For example, let’s say you want to send a message to all the big media companies that are looking to use music from a DIY artist for their television shows but claim “budget restrictions” when it comes to paying for the music they want to license.
Whitey, AKA Nathan White, a Berlin-based electro-rock multi-instrumentalist/composer from London who apparently shuns many standard DIY promotion tactics (like having an official website). He has, nonetheless, crafted a 10-year indie music career and has landed songs on Breaking Bad and The Sopranos, in addition to releasing multiple albums and scoring other notable licensing placements.
Whitey’s making headlines for his recent spat with Betty, a London-based TV production company that “makes modern and high quality popular formats and factual television series” (i.e. reality TV). Betty wanted to use his song “Stay On The Outside,” claimed budget restrictions when asking to use the track, and basically asked him to give away music for free. This was too much for Whitey, and he posted the transaction on his Facebook page. Here it is below:
From Betty:
Hello,
Thanks for emailing me, I have emailed your label but not heard back yet so thanks for getting in touch. Unfortunately we don’t have any budget for music but would be great if we could use the track but it is up to you, but would appreciate anything you could do?
Many thanks,
Zoe
From Whitey:
Hello Zoe,
Firstly, there is no label – I outright own my own material, so I’m not sure who you’ve been emailing.
Secondly, I am sick to death of your hollow schtick, of the inevitable line “Unfortunately there’s no budget for music”, as if some fixed Law Of The Universe handed you down a sad but immutable financial verdict preventing you from budgeting to pay for music. Your company set out the budget. So you have chosen to allocate no money for music. I get begging letters like this every week – from a booming, affluent global media industry.
Why is this? Let’s look at who we both are.
I am a professional musician, who lives from his music. It took me half a lifetime to learn the skills, years to claw my way up the structure, to the point where a stranger like you will write to me. This music is my hard-earned property. I’ve licensed music to some of the biggest shows, brands, games and TV production companies on earth; from Breaking Bad to The Sopranos, from Coca-Cola to Visa, HBO to Rockstar Games.
Ask yourself – would you approach a Creative or a Director with a resume like that, and in one flippant sentence ask them to work for nothing? Of course not. Because your industry has a precedent of paying these people, of valuing their work.
Or would you walk into someone’s home, eat from their bowl, and walk out smiling, saying, “So sorry, I’ve no budget for food”? Of course you would not. Because, culturally, we classify that as theft.
Yet the culturally ingrained disdain for the musician that riddles your profession leads you to fleece the music angle whenever possible. You will without question pay everyone connected to a shoot- from the caterer to the grip to the extra- even the cleaner who mopped your set and scrubbed the toilets after the shoot will get paid. The musician? Give him nothing.
Now let’s look at you. A quick glance at your website reveals a variety of well-known, internationally syndicated reality programmes. You are a successful, financially solvent and globally recognised company with a string of hit shows. Working on multiple series in close co-operation with Channel 4, from a West London office, with a string of awards under your belt. You have real money; to pretend otherwise is an insult.
Yet you send me this shabby request – give me your property for free. Just give us what you own, we want it.
The answer is a resounding and permanent NO.
I will now post this on my sites, forward this to several key online music sources and blogs, encourage people to reblog this. I want to see a public discussion begin about this kind of industry abuse of musicians… this was one email too far for me. Enough. I’m sick of you.
— NJ White
Of course, there’s the ongoing debate regarding whether DIY artists should give away music for free, and it can be tough, especially as a budding indie musician, to say “no” to opportunities that are pitched as benefitting you in ways other than monetary compensation – the old “we can’t pay you, but you’ll get a ton of exposure” line. We want affirmation that our work is worthwhile, or seek that gateway to reach an unknown audience that can result in new fans and record sales.
But the question of when and why your music should be undervalued or why you should be expected to give away music for free is a relevant one. An actor or director wouldn’t do a commercial for a major product and not expect payment. They wouldn’t see it as a chance to gain exposure and other work. Why would that be true for the DIY artist, musician, or composer?
